Choirs

Want to make music? There's a place for you!

Chancel Choir (traditional worship)

The Marvin Chancel Choir is a 60-member choir that provides music leadership for the 11 o'clock sanctuary service each Sunday morning, as well as for a variety of special services throughout the year. The choir also performs many great choral masterworks at festival seasons and other times, often accompanied by orchestra and featuring outstanding soloists. Rehearsal is 7 - 9 p.m. on Wednesdays in room 211.

Core (modern worship)

A unique blend of keyboard, guitar, drums, bass, percussion and outstanding vocals make up the Core Band. The band performs a repertoire of classic contemporary Christian favorites as well as a variety of new music. We also have a tech team who handle sound, lights and projection. The Core crew meets at 7 a.m. on Sundays to prepare for the services.

Music for kids

Children's choirs enable training for our young musicians. These groups aim to teach children the joy and love of making music as a team effort while learning music fundamentals. Our Celebration Choir for kids in grades one through five meets at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays. Laura Burton is director and Sarah Lee is pianist.

Handbells

Robinson Handbells is an adult ensemble that provides music for worship throughout the year. They also ring in seasonal concerts and for community events. Rehearsal is from 5:30-7 p.m. on Mondays in room 231.

Marvin Concert Series

The Marvin Concert Series seeks to present captivating music in a beautiful historic space to the people of East Texas. It is our goal to provide a vital community outreach that enriches the lives of all ages spiritually, culturally and educationally through music. As we reflect on God’s grace and love toward humanity through musical creativity, we can tangibly witness Him “making all things new.”

Marvin's sanctuary was designed not only as a house for worship, but also as a venue for great music to glorify God. We cherish musicians and their stylistic diversity that is reflected in classical, choral, jazz and modern music.

Events are free and in the sanctuary unless otherwise noted.
