Kara Story

Director of Music and Fine Arts

Kara Story is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a master's in choral conducting. While at the U of Ashe served as conductor of the Donna Voce ensemble and as worship leader of Calvary Chapel in Rogers, ArkansasShe also completed her bachelor's in music with an emphasis on vocal performance at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, where she participated in the Jazz Catz, the Jazz Band, the UAFS Chorale and the Vocal Performance Workshop. 

Kara was named Outstanding Soloist at the North Texas Jazz Festival in April 2008, and conducted the Mashburn Scholarship Foundation Singers in their Christmas performance at the White House in Washington, D.C. in December 2011.  She was the featured vocal soloist and conductor on the Messiah Project’s tours of the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Turkey, Austria during the summers of 2014-2016.  During the summer of 2016 she also participated in the Anuna International Summer Academy in Dublin, Ireland, after which she and her husband Jonathan gave a recital in the Large Hall of the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Kara has also toured England, Switzerland, and Italy, singing in Milan's famous Duomo with the Marvin UMC Chancel Choir.

Kara has taught voice and piano privately for nearly 20 years and was interim choral director at Tyler Junior College during the 2021-2022 academic year.
