Gerry Giles

Gerry Giles Associate Pastor

Gerry grew up in rural Collin County, Texas, the son of lifelong educators. He graduated from McKinney High School where he played baseball and football. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas with a major in accounting. Gerry is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and worked as an auditor for both international and local CPA firms before focusing on healthcare finance. He and wife Laura moved to Tyler in 2007 where he served as director of internal auditing for Trinity Mother Frances Health System until 2010.

That same year, they joined Marvin Church and both became active in Congregational Care and Lay Speaking. In 2009 while in worship at Marvin, Gerry sensed a clear and undeniable calling into full-time ministry. Over the next five years, he completed his studies at Perkins School of Theology. During that time, he served as pastor at FUMC Murchison (2009) and St. Paul’s Tyler (2010-2011). In 2012, Gerry joined the Marvin staff full-time as pastor of congregational care. In 2015, he also assumed the role of Executive Pastor.

Laura and Gerry have three adult children: Kelly, Katie and Jeremy, as well as grandchildren Cade, Jenna, Luke and Lucy. They enjoy spending time together, being with family and playing with their Scottish terriers. Gerry loves watching classic movies and enjoying the beautiful scenery of East Texas.
